Product Review: DevaCurl SuperCream Coconut Curl Styler

I love getting new products, but using them on my own hair doesn't always get the most accurate description of the products at their best, so for this new product, I knew the perfect curls to try it on.

The product I tried out is called the DevaCurl SuperCream Coconut Curl Styler. I decided to try them with Ariana, whose curls would be best described as beautiful. Her hair is very thick and voluminous and her curls are small to medium spirals. Because she is color treated her hair is prone to some frizz and dryness.

After applying the product, I immediately I loved the way her hair felt. It was silky and smooth with a nice amount of body. But don't take my word for it! I asked Ariana to share her personal thoughts on the product herself.

Finally. FINALLY. This product is exactly what my curls needed. I feel like I am JUST now learning how my curls work, and how to best take care of them, so when I get instructions on how to manage the curls, I follow them exactly as possible and hope for the best.

When Dee first put this in my hair, I already loved it. I much prefer to have nice big volume in my hair, and this product did a great job of defining my curls, creating a nice shine, and still giving me full volume. My hair looked fresher, the dryness was gone, and it was the perfect way to enhance my natural look for the better. Plus, it didn’t feel “styled”. My hair was still light and bouncy.

The true test came in trying this product for myself. After taking the time to de-tangle and deep condition my hair, I applied this product all through out my curls, defining each section and again merely hoping it would come out for the best. After letting it air dry, it looked PERFECT. It had just slightly more volume in it than when Dee had styled it, and my curls weren’t as defined, but it still looked shiny, and beautiful. But as I’ve practiced with styling using this cream, I can see that my curls are really taking to it, and getting styled better and better.

I can definitely say that this is a fantastic product for curl styling and would recommend it to anyone with hair like mine!

Product Review: DevaCurl

When I was learning what products to use on my own natural hair, I found reading product reviews to be the most helpful thing. So I thought it would only be right to return the favor to future curly hair girls and review of a few DavaCurl products for my first product review here on The Curl Connoisseur!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already figured out what my go-to products are: DevaCurls NoPoo and Heaven in Hair. I use them regularly on my own hair, as well as on all of my curly clients. Being an already huge DevaCurl fan, I wanted to step outside the safety zone and try some of their other products.

I decided to try out the DevaCurl B'Leave-in and the and Arc Angel. They're both wonderful products, however for my level of curl and my own curl pattern, I found it a bit too light to control my frizz or define my curls.

The Style Process:

After wetting my hair, I started with the B'Leave-In curl boost and volumizer (it had amazing slip!). I then followed it up with Arc Angel directly on top. I styled and finished it with a wash n' go.

Here is my hair, day one, at about 50% dry:

I was very pleasantly surprised with the results so far. But How would it be when it completely drys and would it last. That's the real test. Well here's pictures from day 3.

My Review:

Pros: I loved how quickly it dried. It was super light and it was defined, without being crunchy.

Cons:   I like volume, but my hair was huge and I don't like huge. Also, it didn't last as long as my usual stylers. I typically style and go for about 4 to 7 days, but with these products it only lasted about 3 days before I felt the need to restyle.

Summary:  Ultimately, your own personal preferences come into play here. If you want big voluminous hair with definition and minimal frizz, these are definitely the products for you!

I hope this helps in your own hair journey! Please feel free to share the products you love or would like to know more about in the comments below! :)
